Mill Road

This week Andrew and I were able to attend our first formal dinner at one of the colleges. At the last minute a spot opened up for me to attend. I rushed home from work and got ready in about ten minutes flat... (umm so I won't deny that I did shed some tears of frustration as I was trying to lock up my bike and those darn motion detector lights went out on me. In my defense there are a lot of spiders in our bike storage area and I was in such a hurry!!) We ended up having a really nice time. It was a candlelit meal with wine, risotto, chicken, and a nice fruit medley.

We also decided that it makes the most sense for us to stay in Cambridge for Christmas this year. Although we will miss you all  TREMENDOUSLY this holiday season, we've realized we will be back in Minnesota in no time at all (probably August 2012).  We have a few ideas to keep us busy over the holidays so I will keep you posted and let you know how everything turns out. I decided to lift our spirits by decorating a small Christmas tree and putting it in our place. I know it's still November, but what the heck. 

Andrew continues to love the MBA program. He said tonight that these first few months have already been worth the tuition. I always look forward to talking with him at the end of each day! I love hearing about what he has learned.

Oh and I discovered online grocery shopping!! it's quiet popular here and I have to say it's my new favorite thing. I almost killed myself a few times trying to carry home bags of groceries! So no more! From here on out a nice delivery person will bring our items right to our doorstep. It's wonderful. And if anyone is wondering why Andrew wasn't along to help me with groceries in the past, I'll tell ya... everything here closes at  5pm (yeah) and Andrew doesn't typically get home until nearly 9-10pm every night. Oh and he also has classes on Saturdays (we were not excited about that!!)

Two Month Anniversary...

Andrew and I are officially in Cambridge!... as of Sept. 2011 ;) So as you can tell I'm very behind in the creation of this blog. My inspirations to start one, come from my sister-in-law Nikki, and my hopefully soon-to-be sister-in-law, Lindsay :) They both have amazing blogs and I encourage you all to check them out! As I've never had a blog before, I'm not certain how to manage/post/add pictures, so please bear with me!! I'm sure I'll get the hang of it soon enough.

I really miss all of my family and friends back in the United States. I mean really! I have surprisingly had only a few meltdowns since we've been here... nothing even memorable enough to mention. I have to say the hardest part is being away from all of you.

We are living in a flat on Mill Road in Cambridge. It's quite a busy street we live on, but thankfully our flat faces the back of the property so we don't have any street noise. It's a cozy little place and we are both happy with it. Andrew is attending Judge Business School which is conveniently only about 7 blocks away. I originally set out to practice nursing in the United Kingdom (and by, "set out," I mean I spent months filling out paper work and completing an English proficiency test!) BUT there was a problem with a form that one of my colleges sent (I won't name names) and so that adventure is on hold. In the mean time, I have become a nanny! It has secretly been a dream of mine since I was little to be a nanny for a family and travel around with them. So, weird as it sounds, it's actually kind of a dream come true ;) The family is incredibly nice and I am extremely thankful to be able to help them out. So far I have been able to travel with them to Brussels, Belgium.

Andrew heads off to school daily, and I to my nanny job :) We have found a church that we like out here called Holy Trinity. Apparently, "the oldest part of the building dates from 800 years ago..."  They have a women's small group on Thursday mornings that I really enjoy! I have also started going to Zumba! My friend Sara recommended it years ago, but I am just now getting on board. I'm certain that I look like a fool during the class, but it is a great workout and a lot of fun :) We also just got a bike!
